Safety Tips: How to Trade Safely on BATNER

Be extremely careful if a seller asks you for payment or a deposit upfront before you've met in person or seen the item. Only send money once you have the item in your hands and have checked that everything is in order.

📍 Meet in public places

When handing over items, always choose a busy public place with plenty of people around. A café, shopping centre or well-lit car park is ideal. Never invite anyone to your home, and don't go alone to isolated places. Handing items over in person is the best protection.

💬 Keep all communication in the app

Make full use of BATNER's secure features. You can chat with sellers and buyers right in the app. There's no need to give anyone your personal phone number or details. You can sort everything out safely with us.

📹 Make a video call right in the app

Before heading out to meet, tap the call icon and connect with the seller through our built-in video or voice calls. You can check who the seller is in real time and ask them to show you the item's condition and that it works, live on video. It's the best way to spot a fake listing straight away!

🤔 Trust your instincts

If a deal seems too good to be true (e.g. the latest iPhone for a fifth of the price), or the seller is acting strangely or pressuring you, back off. If something feels off, it's better to cancel the deal. Your safety always comes first.

Before you reply to a listing, take a look at the seller's profile. Check their ratings, reviews and feedback from other members of the BATNER community. Profiles with a history of positive ratings are your best sign of a great deal.

🔒 Don't share sensitive information

Be very careful about sharing sensitive information before a deal is complete. A genuine seller or buyer will never need your home address, national ID number or payment card details in advance.

🚩 Report suspicious behaviour

Come across a profile that's acting oddly, selling illegal goods or trying to get money out of you? Report it straight away in the app or email us at report@batner.com. By staying alert, you help keep BATNER a clean and safe place for everyone!
